Have You Read These 5 Underrated Books?

Have You Even Heard of These Amazing Books?!?

Summer reading may be over, but happy people keep their minds engaged even when the leaves start to change.

The following list of five books includes three non-fiction titles that will bend your mind in entirely new directions and two pieces of fiction that are both fun and inspiring. While they are not the book titles thrown around by the usual crowd, but they are all classics in their own ways.

Non-Fiction

1) Integral Psychology (Ken Wilber)

– Integral philosophy makes sense of the massively complex world we live in by drawing together insights from massively wide variety of philosophical, mystical, and psychological traditions.

2) A Course in Miracles

– A self-guided spiritual text written in Shakespearean blank verse guides readers to find and remove the barriers to the awareness of Love’s presence. For a simple introduction, try The Disappearance of the Universe by Gary Renard.

3) The Tao te Ching (Lao Tzu)

– An incredibly wise and beautiful book of spiritual poetry from 6th Century BC China. Readable in an evening. I prefer the Stephen Mitchell’s Translation.

Fiction

4) Wizard’s First Rule (Terry Goodkind)

– As epic as Star Wars and just as fun, with wizards instead of Jedi. The heroes Richard and Kahlan set a high and inspiring bar for living with integrity.

5) Jonathan Livingston Seagull (Richard Bach)

– Read it in a few hours at most, but allow yourself to be forever changed by this class of the human, er, seagull potential movement.

What are your five favorites that are underappreciated? Do you have a spare copy sitting around the house that might need to be read?

And for a hap bonus—ask a friend or two to read one of these at the same time as you, and engage in good conversation as you progress.
