Making Smart Decisions about Sun Exposure and Skincare Makes You Happy

Reclaim your skincare decisions!

Though the official first day of summer isn’t until June 20 (or 21 depending on your time zone), it pretty much feels like summer. One of the most confusing things about longer days filled with beach trips and pool parties is deciding on your sun protection regimen. When you’re spending more time outside—even just washing your car or working in the yard—you’ve got to make critical skincare choices: do you wear sunscreen? If so, what kind? If not, how do you protect yourself?

The factors that could affect your decisions include risks of skin cancer, uncomfortable sunburns, vitamin D requirements, looks—yeah, we’ll admit there’s something to the “healthy tan” look—and more. With all the conflicting info, making a conscious decision about your particular needs can be really empowering—making you much happier all summer long.

Here at DailyHap.com, we’ve questioned if sunscreen is necessary (click here), and the latest CDC reports admit that despite increased awareness, the number of skin cancer cases is actually rising in the U.S. We also champion “clean” skincare products but recognize that they’re equally confusing and sometimes even misleading. We’re not here to tell you what to do, we’re here to encourage you to take the time to make a conscious decision about how you take care of your skin this summer.

What we’re saying: we don’t judge if you love to tan, just do it consciously and as safely as possible. If you want to spend an 8-hour day at the beach, maybe you do want to use chemical-laden sunscreens to avoid the higher costs of the alternatives, the pain of a sunburn, and the annoyance of chalky white sunscreen. We get it.

Just make an informed decision about summer skincare. Don’t just do what you’ve always done—consider your options, and make the best choice for you.

Kinda like life. But just about sun exposure, this time.
